Key Points for Using Tungsten Carbide Brazed Tips

1.Making the structure of brazed cutting tools have strong rigidity  
Choosing the high rigidity steel grade and taking the heat-treatment in order to get enough rigidity under the allowable max profile size .

2.The carbide tools must be fixed well
The carbide tools must be fixed well by means of tools’ groove and welding quality,so you have to choose the proper shape of the fixing groove according to the tools’ shape and its geometry parameters 

3.Checking the shank carefully
You must check the carbide tips and shank carefully before welding the insert onto the shank.First of all ,you must the insert’s bearing face without shape distortion,and its welding face without carburization layer ,meanwhile ,you have to clear the insert’s faces and groove so as to weld well .

 4.Choose the right solder
In order to ensure the strength ,must select the suitable solder .In the course of welding ,you must keep good wet and flow condition,meanwhile get rid of bubbles so as to make the welding faces contact full and avoid the phenomenon of welding shortage .

 5..Choose the correct welding flux
 We suggest you take the industrial borax,however ,prior to using ,you have to dehydrate it in the drying furnace and then scrunch and take out of the mechanical debris with sieve ,then set aside .

 6.Using a mesh gasket as equalization in welding
When you weld the alloy with high-Ti but low-Co or the long but thin tungsten carbide knife ,in order to reduce the welding stress ,we suggest you take a thin insert as thickness from 0.2~0.5mm or a mesh insert with mesh hole diameter from 2~3mm as equalized insert to weld.

7. Choosing the right sharpen method
As tungsten carbide inserts are very brittle and is sensitive for cracking ,so you have to avoid over-heat or over-chill of the knives in the course of sharpening .Meanwhile you have to select the grinding wheel with proper size of granularity ,and the correct grinding process ,so as to avoid crack and influence the tools’ life . 

8.Install the knife correctly
 In the installation ,make the length of knife blade stretch out of the frame to be as short as possible ,otherwise it will cause the knife vibration and damage the insert in machining .

9.Regrinding and wheting tools correctly
When the tools is blunt ,you have to regrind it ,after reground ,you must whet the blade and corner radius with whetstone ,so as to improve the tool’s life ,safety and reliability
