Requirements of Milling Process on Cutting Tools 
In order to achieve the processing precision ,improve the working efficiency of lathes and reduce consumption of cutting tools materials ,when select the CNC milling lath and cutting tools materials ,not only consider to catch the basic requirement of the common lathes ,also have to consider various factors of cutting tools working condition of the CNC milling lathes such as chip-breaking performance ,rapid adjustment and replacement of the cutting tools ,consequently ,there is higher requirements on the cutting tools and its materials .
1)The milling tools must have very good rigid performance ,it is necessary for improving the productivity and taking heavy cutting method .
2)The feature of Adaption to the cutting parameters in CNC milling process is difficulty to adjust .When the processing part with various and different processing allowance ,the common milling lath solves this problem easily by means of hierarchical milling ,however ,for the CNC milling lath which must machine as per the program pre-setted,however ,when it meet some parts with big allowance ,it could not do same as the common lathes “play it by ear”,meanwhile if not consideration of the problem at the beginning of programming ,the milling cutter have to back to its origin point .On the contrary ,if we take the ways to change the height of cutting face or enlarge the radius compensation value of cutting tools to do the work again ,a few more cutting processes ,however ,by this way ,the parts with small allowance will make the cutting knife work with cutting nothing inevitably ,reduce the productivity .But the cutting tools with good rigid performance ,we do not need do that .
3)The wear-resistance for the milling cutting tools must be high ,when a milling cutting tool need do a lot of work ,but if the cutting tools surface wears very quickly ,will influence the workpiece surface quality and precision ,meanwhile will increase times of tools-replacement and tools-adjustment ,also will leave cutting tool connection step in the workpiece surface due to the erros of tools-adjustment .and low the workpiece surface quality .Besides mentioned two points ,the cutting tools with good interchangeability ,facilitation for fast tools-replacement and size-adjustment ,so as to reduce the adjustment time ,meanwhile ,the cutting tools are good at chip-breaking and chip-rolling, so as to smooth discharge of chips ;serialization and standardization in order to facilitate programming etc all of them are the different requirement on cutting tools between CNC machining and common machining lathes .
