Requirement for the cutting inserts in dry cutting process 
The cutting inserts under dry cutting process are required with good red-hardness and wear-resistance ,so as to sustain high temperature and comparatively low friction coefficient in machining work, also restrain the increase of cutting temperature by means of low the friction among cutting inserts ,chips and work-piece surface. Therefore good red-hardness and wear-resistance is indispensable for the cutting inserts used in dry cutting process .Currently, the CBN,PCBN,diamond,PCD,porcelain(Al2O3,Si3N4),ceramic, super-fine tungsten carbide and coated tungsten carbide tools are widely used in dry cutting process .ISCAR has developed many cutting materials for dry cutting ,for instance, its grade IB90 and IB85,with which CBN composition reach 85% and 90% respectively, the cutting inserts with these grades have very high wear-resistance and tensile strength and able to cope with the shock caused by the intermittent cutting .In the meantime ,it is recommended to take high-speed cutting on cast iron and intermittent cutting and round cutting on hardened steel. On the other hand ,the grade IB55 and IB50 with low CBN composition taking 55% and 50%,is more suitable for semi-finish and finish machining .IB10H is ultra-fine grain CBN with high wear-resistance and toughness, with which in high-speed continuous cutting can get high surface quality;IB20 is fine and medium grain CBN is used in continuous and slightly intermittent machining. At last, the grade IB10HC,IB25HC and IB25HA coated with TiN,Ti(C,N,O) are used in different corresponding occasion .
