In the respect of cutting tools’ geometry design, the principal of “low cutting-temperature” has to be abide by,.The design for the cutting tools structure must consider to generate heat as little as possible ,which means the cutting tools structure should strive to achieve low cutting forces and friction.Since the common cutting tools are unavailable for dry cutting ,so ,it is indispensible to optimize cutting tools geometry parameters which requires the cutting tools with big frond rake angle matched with proper cutting edge shape.For example ,ISCAR’s various milling inserts with –PDR and PDR HM chip-break taking zero-degree small rhombus blade and double-positive rake angle design ,not only reduce cutting force also strengthen cutting edge and increase thermal-bearing capability.
In order to reduce cutting heat ,ISCAR’s turing,grooving and milling inserts are added with strengthen rhombus which forms squamous cutting face in the contacting area ,so that decrease the contacting area ,meanwhile most of the heat is chipped away, cutting temperature is much lower than the common inserts, also the shear angle increase and get longer service life of the cutting tools . On the other hand ,considering to the greatest cutting tool surface lubricity and prevent the generation of chip-piling ,ISCAR took the lead to implement hard-nickel and Ti coatings on the cutting tools ,which increase the cutting insert surface hardness and lubricity greatly. The “low cutting-temperature” principal is also considered for the cutting inserts’ chip-break necessarily ,in order to keep the chips flows smoothly and reduce friction between chips and cutting inserts,and make the heat unavailable to up .
