The Classic Application of Super-Hard Cutting Tools
Turning instead of grinding work, as the PCBN cutting tools with high hardness and red-hardness, capable make the work-piece with very good surface roughness under hard-machining situation.Consequenlty it is available to achieve turning instead of grinding by means of PCBN cutting tools for hardened steel, such as machining of auto and motorbike parts, which material is 20CrMnTi with carburizing and quenching process, its surface hardness is HRC60~62.For instance, to machine the gear with hole tolerance as h6 and surface roughness Ra0.8,the normal machining process is turning-heat treatment-grinding,however,if taking super-hard PCBN cutting tools as turning instead of grinding, the new machining process is rough turning-heat treatment-finishing machining. As you can see the new machining process improves the working efficiency dramtically, reduces cost excessively. The old machining process is only available to make 100pcs small gears one day, but the new process capable to 400pcs small gears (cutting data :V =60~120m/min f ≤ 0.12mm/r ap ≤ 0.1mm). |
