Cutting tools material
The cutting tools material decides its cutting performance,which takes very important influence on the cutting efficiency ,quality ,cost and service life .The harder of the cutting tools material,the longer service life,however ,the harder hardness ,the lower anti-shock performance,and the more fragile of the material. Hardness and toughness is a pair of antinomy ,which is also problem that we have to solve for the cutting tools material.For the graphite cutting tools with TiAlN ,when we select the tungsten carbide material ,we can choose the ones with better toughness ,which means the high content of cobalt ,on the contrary ,for the cutting tools with diamond coatings ,when we select the tungsten carbide material ,we have to choose the ones with better hardness ,which means the low content of cobalt.
Geometry Angle of the Cutting Tools
 
A suitable geometry angle of the special cutting tools for graphite is very helpful to reduce vibration of the cutting tools ,on opposition ,the graphite work-piece also uneasy to be damaged in processing .

a)Rake angle 
The cutting edge toughness,shocking and wear resistance performance are better if take negative rake angle to machine graphite ,in the meantime ,with down of the absolute value of the negative rake angle ,the wear area on the flank face is small with generally reducing trend .On the contrary ,if take positive rake angle for machining ,the cutting edge strength is weakened leading to flank wear .When take negative rake angle to machine ,the cutting resistant strength is very strong resulting serious cutting vibration ,however if take big positive cutting angle to machine ,not only the wear is very badly ,also the cutting vibration is serious too.
