The New Development of Tungsten Carbide Grade for Cutting Tools(3)

The super-fine tungsten carbide has been used more and more widely, except the mentioned companies above ,who take super-fine tungsten carbide as substrate ,Kennametal also introduced new grade such as KC5525,KC5510 taking super fine grain size and high cobalt content tungsten carbide as substrate, with which the cobalt content over 10% and PVD TiAlN coating on its surface ,making the cutting tools have very good tensile strength and heat deformation resistant capability in intermittent cutting. SCAR introduced coating series’-TEC”(IC900,IC903,IC908,IC910) for solid tungsten carbide end mills, which also take ultra-fine tungsten carbide as substrate ,coupled with TiAlN(PVD) coating, it make the cutting tools service life increase by 150% when machine the hardened steel with hardness at HRC60~62 comparing with original grade IC903.The grade VP1595 of Valenite for high-speed turn cast iron also takes ultra-fine tungsten carbide as substrate coupling with 18um TiCN/Al2O3/TiC coating with MT-CVD technique, meanwhile its flank face is coated with a gray layer of Tic, so we can watch the cutting edge wear situation and blade switch. When use this grade to rough machine nodular cast iron ,it working efficiency could be risen by 50% comparing with grade K05~K10 

We can see from these new grades, with the improvement of the substrate performance ,the coating technology for the cutting tools has been developed much dramatically ,such as MT-CVD,bar a-Al2O3 CVD coating, high performance PVD coating, new atomic coating ,nanometer structure coating ,yellow Al2O3 CVD coating, white Zr coating,TiAlN coating,TiSiN coating,CrSiN coating,AlCrSiN coating,TiBoN coating etc .The new coatings with trend of variability and series ,making the new tungsten carbide grade endless stream out ,and greatly improving the machining performance of tungsten carbide cutting tools .
