New Tungsten Carbide Materials Development for the Moulds

In terms of new tungsten carbide materials development for the moulds,it generally takes iorn or nickel instead of cobalt.For example,Hunan Metallurgy Materials Institute developed the high toughness tungsten carbide material,which is equal to GM15,GM20 and GM25,used for cold heading dies,cold extrusion dies with very good performance;Tianjing Cemented Carbide Research Laboratory took iron and nickel instead of cobalt to make the tungsten carbide materials,which is as good as GM20 in respect of roll-forging of standard parts and cold heading of steel balls.

In recent years,the hot researching points are fine,supper-fine even nanometer grain size and gradient tungsten carbide.Actually,the gradient tungsten carbide is composited with content gradient and structure gradient etc,in addition,the gradient tungsten carbide is achieved by someones by means of molten metal infiltration processing method,such as gradient tungsten carbide anvil.On the other hand,the fine and supper fine grain size tungsten carbide also has been developed successuflly,like fine grain size carbide drawing dies with grade GM8,whose service life is 3 times longer than the common ones when work on the steel wires with diameter below 1mm,furthermore,the hot working dies inlayed with tungsten carbide materials have performed very good in terms of pipe rolling and wire rod rolling situation.
