Introduction of Normal Tungsten Carbide Wear Life Curve Zones-3

Zone C: When the majority of the remaining mass becomes unstable after the stable period of wear, the WC mass can and often will without notice fail catastrophically. In more simple terms the remaining material will fail instantly and leave behind no recognizable material for analysis. This point in the wear life performance is determined by previous experience and history of similar material.
It is always best practice to index or change out the tools before the Zone C wear curve. The prime reason to change the cutting is early in the Zone C is damage that occurs will affect the holding mechanism,or the material being cut or both. The replacement cost and or repair cost will far outweigh the cost of a new surface.Every cutting material will have a Zone A,Zone B and Zone C.Each zone of the wear pattern is significant to determine cost.
