Why does the Wear Happened in Drawing High Carbon Steel?

The WC/Co tungsten carbide drawing dies show wear-resistance and tensile strength not enough and service life far to ideal when drawing high-carbon steel, especially for high-carbide steel,spring-steel,high-hardness steel and high-adhesion steel etc.
Adhesion and proliferation happened in the interface of this kind of materials when drawing ,as Fe element of this kind materials proliferate through interface into drawing dies ,but it is weakly due to the high carbon content causing Fe proliferating rate low .On the contrary, the Co element in tungsten carbide drawing dies permeate into workpieces strongly due to the high carbon .Because of that ,the bond of WC and Co in the surface is weaken badly ,and the loose WC phases are ground off rapidly. Especially ,under the dry-grinding condition in the absence of cooling ,such wear would be accelerated due to thermal fatigue effects .
Considering to the proliferation of cobalt leading to the wear problem of tungsten carbide wire drawing dies when drawing high-carbon steel,so what means we can take to restrain or stop the cobalt diffusion is the key point to solve the wear problem and prolong the tungsten carbide wire dies service life .
